If the Democrats had a dirty tricks squad:

• Rumor would have it that Let Them Eat Rock by The Upper Crust was under serious consideration as a Republican campaign theme song. (Lyrics here.)
• Someone would ask Christopher Hitchens why he doesn't want Al Gore to be president now.
• A mole within the administration would suggest filling a post Bush doesn't much care about --- say, a slot on the NLRB --- with a wild-eyed, toss-the-Constitution, law-from-the-Bible religious freak.
• A calico cat would wander into the studio during John Ashcroft's next live TV interview.
