Last weekend, Dick Cheney shot Harry Whittington. Emerging from several days in an ICU, Whittington abjectly apologized to Cheney for all the inconvenient questions the veep had to answer while Whittington was distracted by birdshot in his heart. Those with a historical bent might see vague parallels to the humiliations that some of the bad Roman emperors inflicted on unfortunate courtiers, but that's silly. There are important differences. For one thing, no Roman emperor ever had access to firearms...

I'm expecting any day now that prisoners that were tortured at Abu Graib will have a press conference to apologize for being tortured and making the Administration have to face some uncomfortable questions.

Under these circumstances, how are we to convice the Arab world, or anyone else for that matter, that we can instruct them in pluralistic goverment and universal human rights?

Brad DeLong has the answer in what seems like every third post on his blog: "Impeach George Bush. Impeach Richard Cheney. Do it now." So, if we can just get the Republican House to take its cues from a former Clinton Treasury official, we're pretty much set.
