Not too long ago, someone bored David Brooks at a dinner party. Brooks feels his boredom is so unique and endearing that he felt compelled to share it with the rest of us.

And then we find out that the guy was listening to his own echo.
If he was listening to his own echo, he was jealous of it. 2nd graf: he's royally pissed off that it isn't him they're 'lionizing'. That isn't boredom, Charles--it's jealous anger.
I betcha the next party he goes to, they won't ignore him like they did during that one. He might write about them....
