More news from Boston: well, it wasn't just the unlamented Cardinal
Law. The local archdiocese has once again been offered the choice
between serving the needy, and trying to preserve its own power, in
the form of a $35,000 donation from Voice of the Faithful to Catholic
Charities. Voice of the Faithful was formed as a lay pressure group
trying to force reform of the hierarchy, and out of general hostility
to the very notion, the current Archdiocesan leadership has once again
ordered Catholic Charities to turn
down the money.
